Bring your steak out of the fridge and leave until reached room temp. Mix the fajita seasoning, garlic powder and salt together in a small bowl. Season both sides of the steak with your seasoning mixture until completely covered. Add your olive oil to a pan on a medium to high heat on the stove until warmed. Pop your steak in and fry on each side for about 4 minutes. In a pot, add your grains & pulses with a dash of water and heat. Leave the steak to rest for about 5 minutes and then slice and serve alongside your rice and avocado. I’ve added a sprinkling of red onion as it’s my favourite thing, and served with a squeeze of lime!

I only started exploring new steak options in the past couple of years, and when @whatstormeats told me that a Bavette would be my next favourite thing, she was 100% right. It’s a gorgeous cut, easy to fit into loads of recipes and the texture of the steak makes it perfect for adding to tacos, fajitas, or served with some spicy rice and creamy avocado with your tortillas and a slice of lime on the side. I went one step further though and ordered an ex-dairy Bavette, meaning even more intense flavour and richness. This has to be one of the most delicious weeknight dinners and one that is easy to make for 1, 2 or as many people as you’re inviting to the table!
